Flamingo Workforce
“Will I be left on my own?” It is a fair worry for any doctor taking a locum shift somewhere new. On SHO bookings in Liverpool and around Merseyside, you are not: there is registrar and consultant support on every shift we book through Flamingo Workforce.
Backup on every shift
That senior cover matters most when the acute take is busy and decisions need escalating. You still carry real responsibility, clerking admissions and taking referrals, reviewing and managing inpatients, starting investigations and treatment plans and doing procedures within your competence, but you are part of a team with seniors above you and foundation doctors you help along. Nights and weekends are included in the on call rota, and good notes are expected, the kind that hold up to clinical and legal scrutiny.
Specialties on offer
The steady demand is in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry, on medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units. We cover ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors and those with equivalent experience.
What we will ask you for
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and the right to work in the UK are the starting point, along with six months or more of recent hospital experience in the NHS or HSC and experience at core level or equivalent in a relevant specialty. Life support should be ALS in date, though ILS is fine if you are willing to update. We also need an enhanced DBS on the update service, or we arrange one, occupational health clearance and immunisations, two references we can reach and appraisal and revalidation kept up to date, with our help if you want it. ATLS, APLS and progress with MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary are a plus.
Pay and patch
Rates are £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly and agreed before you accept, depending on grade, shift and site. Doctors working in Liverpool often live on the Wirral, in St Helens or Southport, or come across from Chester or Warrington. Pick single shifts, blocks or a month or more.
Apply on the site with your CV and GMC number and we call you that same working day.
