Flamingo Workforce
Good SHOs are often the ones foundation doctors remember. If you enjoy being the person an FY1 turns to at three in the morning, locum SHO work in Leicester will give you plenty of that. Flamingo Workforce books doctors at this grade across Leicestershire, in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry.
The middle of the team
As an SHO you sit between the foundation doctors and the registrar. You support and supervise the juniors on shift, and you have registrar and consultant support yourself every shift. Alongside that you take referrals and clerk admissions on the acute take, review and manage inpatients, order investigations and set treatment plans, and carry out procedures within your competence. Nights and weekends come round on the on call rota, and your records should withstand clinical and legal scrutiny.
Where the shifts are
Medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units. We book ad hoc shifts, block bookings and contracts of a month or more, and you choose the sites and specialties you want.
What you bring
ST1, CT1 or CT2 status, or equivalent experience, with full GMC registration and a licence to practise. You should have the right to work in the UK, six months or more of recent NHS or HSC hospital experience, core training level experience in a relevant specialty and ALS in date, or ILS and a willingness to update. We also need occupational health clearance with immunisations, two contactable references, an enhanced DBS on the update service, which we can arrange, and appraisal and revalidation in date, which we can support. Experience in emergency medicine, acute medicine or psychiatry, ATLS or APLS, and exam progress such as MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary all strengthen an application.
The rate
£45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly. Grade, shift and site set the exact number, and you hear it before you accept. Doctors on Leicester bookings commute from Loughborough, Nuneaton, Rugby, Corby and Nottingham.
Send a CV and your GMC number through the site and we call you back the same working day.
