Flamingo Workforce
Some locums want a different ward every week. Others want a month in one place, a settled routine and the same colleagues each morning. For SHO grade doctors in Hull and East Yorkshire, Flamingo Workforce books longer locum contracts of a month or more as well as block bookings and the odd ad hoc shift.
Settling in for a month
A longer contract gives you time to know the unit properly, which tends to make the work smoother for everyone. The demand is steady in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry, and posts sit on medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units. There is registrar and consultant support every shift, so even on day one you are not left exposed.
Your responsibilities
Clerking admissions and responding to referrals on the acute take. Reviewing and managing inpatients, kicking off investigations and treatment plans. Procedures that sit within your competence. Supporting foundation doctors. Taking your turn on call, including nights and weekends. Keeping notes that would stand up to clinical and legal scrutiny.
Eligibility
We book ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors and those with equivalent experience. You must hold full GMC registration and a licence to practise, have the right to work in the UK, at least six months of recent hospital experience in the NHS or HSC and core training level experience in a relevant specialty. Current ALS is expected, though ILS with a willingness to update is acceptable. Occupational health clearance, immunisations, two references we can contact, an enhanced DBS on the update service and in date appraisal and revalidation complete the list. No DBS yet? We arrange it. Revalidation? We can help.
Rates and reach
You would earn £45 to £55 an hour depending on grade, shift and site, paid weekly and agreed before you accept. Doctors on Hull bookings sometimes base themselves in York, Leeds or Wakefield, and a few come up from Lincoln or Newark.
Apply through the site with your CV and GMC number, and we will phone you on the same working day.
