Flamingo Workforce
Enniskillen is in Fermanagh, out in the far west of Northern Ireland, so travel time is the first thing we look at. We start from your postcode, so a doctor in Omagh or Dungannon, or further off in Armagh or Derry, knows what a shift costs them on the road before saying yes.
Specialties in the Western Trust area
The work is SHO grade, for core trainees and doctors with equivalent experience. Acute rotas need capable SHOs and demand is constant in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry. You could take a single session, a block booking, a fixed term contract or a substantive appointment.
Clinical scope
Wards, both medical and surgical, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, worked with an appropriate degree of autonomy. On a typical shift you take referrals and clerk the acute take, manage inpatients and their investigations and treatment plans, carry out procedures within your competence and supervise foundation colleagues. Escalation is a conversation with the registrar or consultant. Nights and weekends come up on the on call rota, and good records are expected.
Getting your file ready
Essential: you are fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise, you have the right to work in the UK, and you bring half a year or more of recent hospital work in the NHS or HSC with core training level experience, or its equivalent, in a relevant specialty. Life support should be ALS, or ILS if you will update it. Occupational health clearance, immunisations and references go on file, and appraisal and revalidation need to be current. We arrange the Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure. Desirable: Royal College exam progress, ATLS or APLS, emergency, acute or psychiatric experience, and familiarity with Encompass.
Rates and support
£45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, with no timesheets to chase. We confirm your background check before every booking and support appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training. Flamingo Workforce is an appointed supplier on the Northern Ireland medical and dental locum framework across all five Trusts. Apply through the site.
