Flamingo Workforce
On the north coast, a district general hospital in Coleraine needs SHO grade doctors to cover emergency medicine. Consultant and registrar support is there on every shift while you see patients in minors and majors, present cases to senior colleagues and then act on the plan.
Grade and background
CT1, CT2 or equivalent experience. What helps most is six months or more of recent emergency or acute medicine, MRCEM Primary or MRCP Part 1 progress, and ATLS or APLS sitting alongside in date ALS. Coleraine is a reasonable drive from Ballymena, Derry and Antrim, and doctors further away in Dungannon or Omagh are not out of range.
Committing to a run of dates
Shifts come up regularly. If you can give us a run of dates, block bookings are available, and there are longer locum contracts for doctors who want something steadier. Single shifts are there too, and if you are happy to travel the same applies across all five Health and Social Care Trusts.
Alongside the patients
Besides assessment and treatment, you carry out practical procedures within your competence, support the foundation doctors on with you and keep accurate, timely records.
The essentials
You will need full GMC registration and a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, and recent NHS or HSC hospital experience at the grade advertised. ALS should be in date, or ILS with a willingness to update, and your appraisal and revalidation current. The Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health clearance and two references are arranged by us, not left to you.
Pay, and who we are
The rate is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, agreed before you accept and set by grade, shift and Trust. Flamingo Workforce places doctors from FY1 to Consultant into HSC hospitals as an appointed framework supplier in Northern Ireland. Apply through the site with your CV and GMC number; we phone you back the same working day.
