Flamingo Workforce
Minors one hour, majors the next. As an SHO grade locum in emergency medicine in Antrim you see, assess and treat patients across both, present to the registrar or consultant, act on the plan you agree, and carry out procedures within your competence. Foundation doctors on the shift will lean on you, and your notes need to be accurate and written up on time.
Days, nights and weekends
Shifts come up regularly across days, nights and weekends. If you would like a settled pattern rather than picking up odd dates, ask about a block booking, and longer locum contracts are possible too. We need SHO grade doctors at ST1, CT1 or CT2, or with equivalent experience. Antrim is within easy reach of Ballymena, Belfast and Lisburn, and not far from Craigavon or Dungannon.
Requirements for the department
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and the right to work in the UK are essential, with recent NHS or HSC hospital experience at the grade advertised. Advanced life support should be current, or immediate life support with a willingness to update. We would prefer six months or more of recent emergency or acute medicine, plus MRCEM Primary or MRCP Part 1 progress, and ATLS or APLS would be a bonus. Appraisal and revalidation should be in date.
The compliance side
We arrange your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health clearance and two references. Flamingo Workforce is an appointed supplier on the Northern Ireland agency framework for medical and dental locums, covering FY1 to Consultant across all five Health and Social Care Trusts, and the consultant who looks after you knows the Trust rotas and books you where you want to work.
Rates
£45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, agreed before you take the shift; the figure depends on grade, shift and Trust. Ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer locum contracts run across all five Trusts. Apply through the site with your CV and GMC number, and expect a call the same working day to confirm availability and start your file.
