Grade and reach
The bookings are for ST1, CT1 and CT2 doctors or those with equivalent experience. Glasgow and Dundee are both within reach of Edinburgh, as is Northumberland across the border, so you do not need to live in the city to work here.
Clinical day
Medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, at SHO level with registrar and consultant support on each shift. Clerking from the acute take and fielding referrals. Inpatient management, from first investigations to the treatment plan. Practical procedures within your competence, supervision of foundation colleagues, and your place on an on call rota that includes nights and weekends. Record keeping must hold up clinically and legally.
Requirements, Scottish checks included
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, at least six months of recent NHS hospital experience and core training level experience or equivalent in a relevant specialty are all essential. Your ALS should be in date; ILS will do if you are willing to update. PVG scheme membership is needed, and we can arrange it for you. Occupational health clearance with immunisations, two references we can contact and a current appraisal and revalidation complete things, and we can support revalidation. MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary progress and ATLS or APLS are welcome.
The terms
Rates are £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, and depend on grade, shift and site. Nothing is booked until you have agreed the rate. You can pick ad hoc shifts, block bookings or contracts of a month or more, and choose your sites and specialties. Flamingo Workforce supplies doctors to hospitals, urgent care and out of hours services and private providers, and takes the compliance file off your hands so you can start quickly.
