Work in the North West
Flamingo Workforce is recruiting SHO grade doctors, core trainees and those with equivalent experience, for general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry, where acute rotas rely on good SHOs and demand stays constant. Derry anchors the North West, and doctors living in Coleraine, Omagh, Dungannon, Ballymena or Enniskillen can be considered as well. We look at postcode and travel time to keep each doctor close to home.
Responsibilities you take on
Shifts sit on medical and surgical wards, in assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, and you will be given an appropriate degree of autonomy. Clerk admissions and accept referrals from the acute take. Review inpatients and kick off their investigations and treatment. Perform procedures within your competence, supervise the foundation doctors, and agree escalation decisions with the registrar or consultant. Your share of the on call rota will include nights and weekends.
The checklist
We need full GMC registration with a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, six months or more of recent NHS or HSC hospital experience, and core training level or equivalent experience in a relevant specialty. Bring ALS, or ILS and the willingness to update it, along with occupational health clearance, immunisations and contactable references. Your appraisal and revalidation should be in date. The Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure is arranged by us. Exam progress such as MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary helps, as do ATLS or APLS, Encompass experience, and emergency, acute or psychiatry work behind you.
Pay, booking length and applying
The rate on file is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly with no chasing. Choose from a single session up to block bookings, fixed term contracts or a substantive appointment, and pick your sites, shifts and specialties.
