Flamingo Workforce
Royal College exams count for a lot at this grade. If you have MRCP Part 1 or the MRCEM Primary under way, or ATLS or APLS behind you, mention it when you apply for SHO locum work in Coleraine, since both sit on the desirable list for this work.
The north coast and beyond
Coleraine sits on the north coast, with Ballymena and Derry the nearest bigger towns and Antrim, Dungannon and Omagh further out. We match doctors to work close to home using postcode and travel time, so tell us where you live and how far you will go. The work is at SHO grade for core trainees and doctors with equivalent experience, and demand never really eases in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry.
The job itself
Shifts are on medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units across the five Trusts. With an appropriate degree of autonomy you clerk the acute take and accept referrals, manage inpatients, order investigations, set treatment plans and do procedures within your competence. Foundation colleagues will need your supervision, escalation goes to the registrar or consultant, and you join the on call rota for nights and weekends.
Non negotiables
A full GMC registration and licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, at least six months of recent NHS or HSC hospital experience and core training level experience in a relevant specialty. Life support at ALS level, or ILS with a willingness to update. Occupational health clearance, immunisations, references, and appraisal and revalidation kept in date, which we help with. We arrange your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure ourselves. Emergency, acute or psychiatry experience and some familiarity with Encompass are a plus.
Money and bookings
The pay on file is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly, with no timesheets to chase. Book ad hoc shifts, block bookings or a contract of a month or more. Flamingo Workforce is a healthcare, social care and corporate recruiter supplying doctors from FY1 to Consultant across all five Health and Social Care Trusts. Apply through the site.
