We place SHO grade locums, core trainees or doctors with equivalent experience, into general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry, where the need for capable SHOs on acute rotas does not let up. Armagh is well placed for doctors living in Craigavon, Dungannon, Newry or Lisburn, and Antrim is not far off either. We look at your postcode and travel time and try to keep you near home.
A shift in practice
The work runs across medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units, and you are trusted with a fair degree of autonomy. That means clerking admissions from the acute take, reviewing inpatients and getting investigations and treatment plans going, doing practical procedures you are competent in, and talking to registrars and consultants about escalation. You also keep an eye on foundation doctors, write records that will stand scrutiny, and share in nights and weekends.
Before we can book you
Full GMC registration and a licence to practise, the right to work in the UK, six months or more of recent NHS or HSC hospital experience, and experience at core training level or equivalent in a relevant specialty. ALS certification, or ILS with a willingness to update, is needed too, along with immunisations and an in date appraisal and revalidation. Helpful extras: emergency, acute or psychiatric experience, Royal College exam progress, ATLS or APLS, and experience of hospital record systems such as Encompass.
Pay and how long you stay
On file the rate is £45 to £55 an hour, paid weekly with no timesheet chasing. Bookings run from a single session to block bookings, fixed term contracts and substantive appointments. Apply through the site and a Flamingo Workforce consultant who understands specialty rotas will pick it up.
