Blocks of nights, single shifts or a longer locum stretch: pick the shape and we will fill it. A busy district general emergency department in Antrim needs registrar grade doctors at ST3+ and ST4+, and Flamingo Workforce is booking shifts now through the autumn and into winter.
On the floor
There is a consultant on the floor, and when the shift needs it you step up as senior decision maker. That means leading resus and majors, seeing undifferentiated patients from the moment they come through the door, and making admission, referral and discharge calls you are comfortable defending. SHOs and foundation doctors will look to you, and so will the nursing team. Notes need to stand up to clinical and legal scrutiny, because sooner or later someone reads them closely.
Before we book you
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise is essential, along with the right to work in the UK and recent NHS or HSC experience at the grade you are applying for. ALS should be in date; ILS is acceptable if you will update. Progress towards MRCEM or FRCEM helps, as do ATLS, APLS and earlier emergency department registrar time. If you have used Encompass or a similar electronic record, mention it.
What we handle
Your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, occupational health and two references are arranged by us. If appraisal or revalidation is coming due, we can support that as well.
Pay and travel
The rate runs from £55 to £70 an hour, depending on grade, shift and Trust. You agree it before accepting, and it is paid weekly. From Ballymena or Belfast the drive is short, and plenty of doctors come across from Lisburn, Craigavon or Dungannon. We work with every grade from FY1 to consultant in all five Trusts, so there is room to move on when this block ends.
