Flamingo Workforce
£45 to £55 an hour, confirmed before you book and paid each week. For an FY2 doctor around Antrim, that is the headline, and the rest is about choosing when you work.
Days, twilights or nights
Shifts come as days, twilights, nights and weekends, and you build the pattern. Some FY2s take the odd ad hoc shift; others want a block booking or a longer locum contract. Immediate and short notice starts are available if you are free right away.
Where you would be
Emergency departments, acute medical and surgical assessment units, inpatient wards and out of hours cover, always under senior supervision. You will assess acute presentations, carry the ward bleep and decide which review comes first. Practical procedures become more independent as you go. When a patient deteriorates you respond and escalate straight away, and every shift ends with a careful handover and accurate notes. There are usually FY1s and medical students to help along, and audit or governance work where the placement allows it.
Requirements in brief
Full GMC registration and a licence to practise, a completed Foundation Year 1 and about six months of recent hospital experience in the UK or Ireland. ILS is the minimum, and ALS is a bonus. You need the right to work in the UK, occupational health clearance and immunisations suited to the setting, and references from recent employers. Emergency or acute medicine time helps, and so does knowing Encompass or a similar record system.
Sorted by us
We arrange your Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, chase the references and occupational health, and help with appraisal, revalidation and mandatory training. Flamingo Workforce books doctors from FY1 to consultant across all five Health and Social Care Trusts, and our consultant knows the Northern Ireland rotas well.
