Not everyone wants to ring round for a new shift every few days. If you would rather know where you are working for the next few weeks, a block booking or a longer placement through us could suit you better than one off shifts. We place healthcare assistants in Newcastle and across Tyne and Wear and Northumberland on all three: ad hoc, block and longer term.
Why a block booking
Working the same setting for a run of shifts means you get to know the people you care for, the staff and the routine. It is still agency work, so you are still choosing whether those shifts are days, nights or weekends. And if you only want the odd shift, that is fine too. Some of the work we handle goes as far as permanent positions.
Where you might be
Bookings come through from hospital wards, nursing homes, residential homes and community services. You could be on a ward in the city, in a home near Gateshead or South Shields, or doing one to one work up in Northumberland. We match by postcode and travel time, so someone in Sunderland or North Tyneside gets offered work they can reach.
Your part in the team
You support the nurses and carers with personal care, getting people moving, food and fluids, and taking and logging observations. Clear, timely records and a calm eye on comfort and safety make up the rest.
Requirements
At least six months of recent healthcare assistant or care experience in the UK and the right to work in the UK are essential, along with two references for your recent employment. We look for the Care Certificate and will help you complete it if you need to. Basic life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding training should be in date, together with occupational health clearance and suitable immunisations. We use an enhanced DBS on the update service or arrange a fresh one.
Pay and applying
The rate is £13 to £15 an hour depending on the shift and the setting, paid weekly. Apply on the site with your CV. You will hear from us within one working day, and once we know where you want to work we start your compliance file. As soon as it is done, you are clear to take your first shift.
