Flamingo Workforce
Before you apply, check one thing: is your mandatory training in date? Basic life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding all need to be current for healthcare assistant shifts in Cardiff. If they are, you are already a good way towards your first booking with us.
Getting your file ready
Beyond training, we ask for six months or more of recent care or healthcare assistant experience in the UK, the right to work in the UK and two references that cover your recent employment. We also need occupational health clearance and immunisations in line with the setting you will be working in. The Care Certificate is expected, and we will help you complete it if you have not. If you already have an enhanced DBS on the update service, that saves time; if you do not, we arrange one.
The shifts on offer
We book healthcare assistants in Cardiff and across South Wales into hospital wards, nursing and residential homes and community services. You can also take one to one work. You choose days, nights or weekends, and whether you want ad hoc shifts, a block booking or a longer placement. We match by postcode and travel time, so the offers you get make sense whether you live in the city or in Barry, Pontypridd, Bridgend, Newport or Cwmbran.
Your role on the floor
You support the nurses and care team with personal care, mobility, food and drink, and observations, taking readings and recording them accurately. Your job is to help people feel comfortable and stay safe, and to leave records the next shift can trust.
Pay and the call back
Pay is £13 to £15 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid weekly. Apply through the site with your CV. We will phone within one working day to talk through where you want to work and start your compliance file, and once that is complete you can take your first shift.
