Can I just work weekends? For healthcare assistant work with us in Bristol, the answer is yes. You decide whether you want days, nights, weekends or some mix of the three, and we offer you shifts that fit that pattern rather than the other way round.
Your week, your choice
Plenty of the people we place have something else going on during the week: study, children, another job. Agency work suits that, because you are not tied to a rota someone else wrote. Shifts are spread across the West of England, so whether you are in the city, in Bath or Weston Super Mare, or coming over the bridge from Newport, Cwmbran or Cardiff, we look at your postcode and how long the trip really takes before we put anything to you.
The settings and the work
You could be on a hospital ward on Saturday and in a nursing home or residential home the following Sunday, or working in community services, or doing one to one shifts with one person. Wherever it is, you support the nurses and care team. Expect personal care, help with mobility, meals and drinks, observations taken and recorded properly, and a steady focus on keeping people safe and at ease.
What we check
We ask for six months or more of recent UK experience as a healthcare assistant or carer, the right to work in the UK and two references from your recent employment. The Care Certificate is expected, though we will support you through it if you have not done it yet. Your mandatory training needs to be in date (basic life support, moving and handling, infection prevention, safeguarding), plus occupational health clearance and whatever immunisations the setting needs. If your enhanced DBS is not on the update service, we can arrange a new one.
Pay, and getting started
Rates sit between £13 and £15 an hour depending on the shift and setting, paid every week. If weekends become something steadier, block bookings and longer placements are there too.
