Flamingo Workforce
If you live in West Bromwich, Dudley or Walsall, the real question is rarely whether Birmingham is close. It is whether the shift sits on your side of it. That is how we place healthcare assistants across the West Midlands: we start from your postcode and your actual travel time, and only then look at what to offer you.
Where you could be working
Shifts come from hospital wards, nursing and residential homes and community services, in the city and out towards Solihull and Wolverhampton. Some people only want ward work. Others like a mix, or settle into one to one support with a single person. Tell us which suits you and that is what we will put in front of you. Days, nights or weekends are your call.
What a shift looks like
You work alongside nurses and care teams. Most of it is practical: helping with personal care, getting people moving safely, keeping track of what they eat and drink, taking observations and writing them up while they are fresh. A good part of the job is simply keeping someone comfortable and safe and leaving notes the next person can rely on.
Before your first booking
You will need at least six months of recent healthcare assistant or care experience in the UK, the right to work here and two references that cover your recent jobs. Bring the Care Certificate if you hold it; if not, we will help you complete it. Basic life support, moving and handling, infection prevention and safeguarding training should all be current, and you will need occupational health clearance with the immunisations your setting asks for. An enhanced DBS on the update service is ideal, and if you do not have one we can arrange it.
Money and the next step
Pay is £13 to £15 an hour depending on the shift and setting, and it arrives weekly. Bookings run from a single ad hoc shift to block bookings and longer placements. Apply through the site with your CV and we will ring you within one working day to talk about where you want to work and open your compliance file. Once it is complete, you can take your first shift.
