Acute rotas across Northern Ireland run on capable SHOs, and demand is constant in general medicine, emergency medicine, surgery and psychiatry. Flamingo Workforce is recruiting SHO grade doctors, including core trainees and doctors with equivalent experience, for ad hoc shifts, block bookings and longer locum contracts across the Health and Social Care Trusts.
About Flamingo Workforce
Flamingo Workforce is a specialist healthcare, social care and corporate recruitment agency, and an appointed supplier on the NHS and HSC Northern Ireland Agency Workers Medical and Dental framework (Lots 1 and 2), covering doctor grades from FY1 to Consultant across all five Health and Social Care Trusts. We place doctors into HSC hospitals, urgent care and out of hours services, and private and community settings, matching every doctor to work close to home, by postcode and travel time, from a single session to block bookings, fixed term contracts and substantive appointments.
The role
Working with an appropriate degree of autonomy on medical and surgical wards, assessment units, emergency departments and mental health units across the five Trusts.
Day to day, you will:
• Take referrals and clerk admissions across the acute take
• Review and manage inpatients, initiating investigations and treatment plans
• Perform practical procedures within your competence
• Supervise and support foundation colleagues on shift
• Contribute to the on call rota, including nights and weekends
• Liaise with registrars and consultants on escalation decisions
• Keep records that stand up to clinical and legal scrutiny
What you will need (essential)
• Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise
• At least six months of recent NHS or HSC hospital experience
• Experience at core training level or equivalent in a relevant specialty
• Advanced life support certification, or immediate life support with a willingness to update
• The right to work in the UK
• An Enhanced AccessNI Disclosure, which we arrange for you
• Occupational health clearance, immunisations and contactable references
• Appraisal and revalidation in date, which we can support
Desirable
• Progress with relevant Royal College examinations, such as MRCP Part 1 or MRCEM Primary
• Emergency medicine, acute medicine or psychiatry experience
• ATLS or APLS certification where relevant to your specialty
• Familiarity with hospital electronic record systems, including Encompass
